How to make sure your content attracts your dream client

If the content you are putting out is not attracting your dream clients then there are simple things you can review. To help you create content that will then draw the attention of the people you really want to notice you. Here are my top 5 tips.

#1 Know who your dream client is

After all, if you don’t know who they are then how are you going to write content that’s of interest to them? I know people find this process daunting but honestly, it can be fun! Think of it like building your own business mascot. It’s important when identifying who your dream client is to think of the whole person. Not just the bit that links to your business because your content shouldn’t all be about selling to them, it’s about relationship building. You need to know what their lifestyle looks so you can include their personal interests in your content.

#2 Understand what your dream client needs and how you provide the solutions.

What exactly is it that your dream client is struggling with? How does it make them feel and how can you fix it for them?

Asking yourself these three questions when creating your content and writing accordingly means that when your dream client reads it, they think, “yes that’s me. I do that and I need me some of what she is offering.”

They might not buy straight away but it shows them you are on their wavelength.

I learned a lot about writing like this in a problem solution and outcome style from the book Building a story brand by Donald Miller.

#3 Be yourself

You and your dream client will usually share common ground in terms of likes, dislikes, and lifestyle that’s why you want to work with them. (I hope) working with them will make work fun for you and make you happy. So be yourself, be relatable, and build a genuine connection. It’s easier to maintain a consistent voice in your content if it’s naturally you.

#4 Stick to your values

Make sure that what is important to you in work and life shines through. For example, if being eco-conscious is important to you stick to it in your content so that readers can see this influences what you do and who you work with. In the same way, if working flexibly is important so that you still get time with your family and animals. Then post about it so that clients will approach you knowing how you work.

#5 Be consistent

Now you have the other four things considered, stick with your plans. This way your content will continually speak to those dream clients. Avoid going off on sudden unexpected tangents as you may alienate dream customers away from working with you and inadvertently attract other non-dream clients.

I know a lot of people find figuring out these points daunting to do alone. The good news is you don’t have to, this is the perfect task to tackle in a business buzz session. Using simple questions I can help you map out details about your dream client that will help you build content that attracts them to you. Get in touch to book your session.
