5 Actions you can take so that you have content prepared to keep your business visible in the summer holidays.

It occurred to me whilst on holiday during half term that the next school holiday is the dreaded summer break. I understand how hard the summer juggle is and how content can slip off the radar. To help you avoid having to work doubly hard to get your momentum back in September here are 5 actions you can implement in the next 5 weeks to make sure you’re not stressing about your online presence all summer.

#Tip 1 Decide on the theme or topic you want to cover.

My advice is pick something you find easy to talk about so that writing the content comes easily. I wouldn’t advise trying to launch anything new that’s going to need a lot of input and energy from you.

Once you have decided on the topic and before you dive into creating anything my second tip is,

#Tip 2 Get in good habits.

Making sure your writing and creation processes are as efficient as possible will mean you can make the best use of the limited time you have available. It takes around 14 occasions doing something in a new way for it to become the “normal” habit. So that’s why you need to address any bad habits now so that they are reframed or well on the way to it by the time the holidays arrive.

If you need to fight distractions, try putting a regular slot in your diary at a time when you can work somewhere as quiet as possible. It doesn’t have to be a huge time block, it’s amazing what you can do in a focussed 30 minutes. Just be sure to turn off all notifications.

If your problem is your creativity stalls when you’re faced with a blank page or you find yourself forgetting to include key elements into your content then a tool that gives you a structure to work through can really help. I have tools like this available as reuseable downloads on my Etsy store.

Here is the blog tool for streamlining your blog creation.

#Tip 3 Create an extra post per session.

Each time you sit down for a creation session between now and the holidays aim to create one extra post that fits into your summer theme. We have 5 weeks before the end of term, if you only manage to create once a week that’s still 5 post slots filled.

#Tip 4 Repurpose from your content library

Look back at your past posts. What can you repurpose to fit into the summer theme? Remember people see so much content even if they did see it last time this acts as a good reminder and if you tweak it even slightly your audience probably won’t even notice. Don’t be nervous about repurposing. It’s a great way to work smarter, not harder.

#Tip 5- Utelise awareness days.

My last tip for today is, to take a look at an awareness day calendar. You can use any days relevant to your industry and audience directly. Also, see what the other days make you think of, can you get creative and use them to inspire some indirect posts? If you would like to know more about how to do this check out my previous blog on awareness day content.

If you use each of these tips during a content session you could have 3 posts per week prepared. 3 posts per week is a decent amount to maintain visibility. Remember most people are checking their socials less because they are also busy.

If you’ve found this blog helpful, don’t forget to save it and share it with a fellow freelance parent.
